Job Description

The Director HSE NA is responsible for leadership, oversight and management of HSE resources in all NA. This entails driving strategy, development and execution of the Global HSE & Sustainability strategy and HSE goals. Main HSE function areas are HSE management, working environment, safety, security, environment and climate, food safety and crisis management.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Advise, support and challenge the line managers at all levels to develop, communicate and implement the HSE strategy to reach our goal of zero harm
  • Partner with BU and global support team’s leadership to identify and develop talent management strategies, identify gaps, and plan processes to support business initiatives
  • Contribute to and lead the HSE strategy and ensure it is  up to date and serve North American needs
  • Contribute to, lead communicate, and coordinate of all health, environmental and safety/security programs
  • Identify best HSE practices, drive learning and communicate those across the group to ensure continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Supports cost-effective business processes and continuous improvement through standardized tools and focus on quality.
  • Help ensure HSE becomes a competitive edge in the way ACT does business
  • Participate in developing HSE Awareness and culture program
  • Coordinate and lead North American Emergency response

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Master or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, with 6-10 years of experience or combination
  • Excellent acumen on how HSE impact fuel and retail business and vice versa. Good knowledge in safety and security.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
  • Certified EHS/HSE/ Professional preferred 
  • OSHA certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort collaborating with site leaders 
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Proficiency at tracking / IT systems and Project Management beneficial
