JOB SUMMARY:

The Fleet Area Manager manages deliveries throughout out its specific area. This position directs in a timely and accurate manner all customer's deliveries, backhaul activities, including hauler management, equipment utilization, and Freight Spend. The Fleet Manager oversees record keeping and compliance in accordance with Company's policies and procedures and DOT regulations. The Fleet Manager reports to the Director of Distribution North America. This Fleet Manager will have the opportunity to lead projects and actively participate in larger strategic company initiatives. The Fleet Manager provides day to day management of our drivers within the working site. This includes: hiring, training, evaluating, discipline and developing the driver workforce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs Transportation activities in all aspects of planning & execution of product deliveries
  • Makes adjustments to delivery routes based upon capacity to optimize runs
  • Communicates and coordinates with third party carriers
  • Communicates with all personnel, including Fuel Directors, Senior Directors & Company VP’s
  • Conducts weekly planning & coordination to develop market strategies for the coming week
  • Possesses creativity and thinks quick to make decisions Implement successful procedures within external distribution channels, including carrier development
  • Serves as first line of communication for all transportation related issues
  • Works independently to resolve issues & communicates accordingly when additional input is needed
  • Provides exceptional & timely customer service at all times to internal & external customers with respect to planning, scheduling, RFQs, troubleshooting & issue resolutions
  • Assists with product deliveries when needed & as department staffing needs dictate
  • Attends training sessions to stay up to date on DOT & other regulations as needed
  • Accepts challenges and deals positively with adversity
  • Maintains a clean working environment
  • Adheres to all Safety & Food Safety requirements
  • Reports and is accountable for notifying accordingly of observed safety concerns Perform other duties as directed by management
  • Works well with all teammates
  • Has budgeting & forecasting experiencing & knows how to directly control/impact freight spend

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate Degree in Logistics required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • 10+ years’ logistics or general transportation experience, combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 5+ years’ management or supervisory experience
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Self-Starter with a proven track record of delivering streamlined logistics
