Job Description

SUMMARY

Reporting to the V.P., Operations, the Lead Brand Manager will provide strategic leadership and management in the areas of Marketing and Communication for the Circle K and Holiday Brands and also develop a Brand vision and supporting strategies to achieve Divisional sales and margin objectives.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a love for retail and the guest experience, thinking about how you could design campaigns, products and services that make their lives better.
  • Build a compelling business case for making things happen – blending art and science to influence others, showing a strong bias for impact over activity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage and develop a multi-disciplinary team including Marketing Managers and their direct reports.
  • Support team culture through a one-team mindset and strong customer service mentality (internal and external customers)
  • Build and maintain a marketing focused organization within Circle K with strong emphasis on brand management.
  • Provide direction, leadership and support to the Circle K marketing team/network in the execution of initiatives.
  • Proactively contribute to the strategic planning processes, providing market, competitive and customer data and insights, strategy and tactical plan development and revenue trend analysis.
  • Work closely with Merchandising and Food Service teams to develop Northern Tier marketing strategies and tactics.
  • With a thorough understanding of our competitive positioning, design and develop campaigns to take new services to the market, working in conjunction with our Regional Directors of Operations.
  • Working closely with Circle K’s Directors in other functions to ensure alignment of marketing/merchandising strategies with our goals and objectives.
  • Leverage strong relationships amongst vendors, strategic marketing alliance partners and functional management.
  • Maximize growth in gross profit dollars in the company by advising the VP Operations on strategic alternatives for the company and implementing those initiatives specifically relating to marketing, product management and sales.
  • Prepare and lead all marketing initiatives, both in terms of spending and revenue generation. 
  • Play a key role in marketing & communications strategy and formulation and execution of the annual Marketing & Communications Plan and budgets.
  • Prepare presentations, forecasts and budget reports (regular executive presentations)
  • Expand brand presence in each market by developing an annual marketing plan detailing strategy, budget and expenditures.
  • Develop brand strategy to create loyalty, generate demand, and increase traffic count.
  • Work closely with Merchandising and Food Service teams to develop category strategies to increase sales while delivering maximum profitability.
  • Analyze financial results, recommend promotions, and category changes to meet/exceed established goals.
  • Anticipates and reacts to competitive activity within each market by reviewing, analyzing and providing recommendations.
  • Oversee execution of tactical plans submitted by senior managers (Merchandising, Category, Food service Development and Marketing).
  • Ensure implementation of merchandising plans and initiatives by communicating with Regional Directors of Operations and Market Managers.
  • Manage Marketing Team relationship with Price Book to ensure ongoing accuracy of scan data.
  • Supervise day to day activities of the Marketing Managers.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field preferred, and/or 8-10 years marketing or business experience. 
  • Experience managing multiple employees, with direct reports is preferred.
  • Experience in managing food service programs including fresh food, quick service among others.
  • Intermediate BI knowledge; ability to both apply and interpret data practically for use in real-world scenarios
  • Advanced skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & related Microsoft suite products.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple activities, and retain strong detail orientation. 
  • Must be able to maintain a positive team attitude, with a focus on individual development within their team.
