JOB SUMMARY:  The Senior Systems Administrator must have strong team and leadership skills, while also bringing a senior level of technical expertise to the table.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Manager of Infrastructure to ensure the organizations standards and best practices are followed.
  • Plan and manage assigned activities with an emphasis on quality, timeliness and budget.
  • Analyze and resolve incidents in a timely manner to minimize downtime to all clients.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies.  Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.  Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.                         
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.  Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
  • Design and implement architectures for creating and provisioning a dynamic on-premise architecture consisting of virtualized resources that support multi-tiered HA/Clustered applications, services, databases, and capabilities using various hypervisors, platforms, and operating systems
  • Design and implement virtualized servers, clients, tools, and infrastructure, and create a management plan to guide operations and activities associated to the deployed environments and resources
  • Administration, installation, and advanced troubleshooting with Nutanix and Hyper-converged infrastructure

    PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 - 10 years Systems Administration experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with the following technologies (where applicable):
    • Hypervisor/Hyper-Converged technology (AHV, Nutanix)
    • Office 365 management (Exchange online, Azure, AWS, ADFS )
    • Windows Server 2008 – 2016
    • Citrix XenApp  7.x and up
    • GNU/Linux Redhat 5.5 – 7.x
    • Vmware Vsphere 6.0 – 6.5 using technologies such as Datastore clustering, DRS and DVswitch in a multi hosts/multi cluster environment
    • Microsoft Active Directory under domain/forest level 2012 and up
    • Veeam Backup and Replication
    • IBM Storewize and HP EVA storage systems
    • Microsoft Powershell 4.0 and up     
    • Symantec EndpointProtection
    • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012
  • Experience with public, private, and/or hybrid cloud capabilities
  • Working knowledge of on-premise and colocation system administration, virtualization and cloud platforms, services, architectures/ designs, and best practices
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Will be required to support a 24/7 on call rotation with other team members
  • Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative global team environment
  • Strong prioritization, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast priority changing environment
  • Excellent written/oral communication, both French and English.
  • Experience in a Retail environment is an asset but not required
  • All duties performed as assigned relating to position
