Job Summary: Provides the overall management of the Internal Fleet to ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with the company and DOT requirements. Directs the maintenance, repairs, equipment procurement, and inventory management of company assets across all three fleet locations to include owned, leased, and rented equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the operational Fleet Managers in multiple locations within the USA in the routine and preventative maintenance needs to the company owned and leased equipment in accordance

    with company and DOT requirements for all company locations.

  • Manages the financial requirements of the Maintenance Department including budgets, management of purchased outside maintenance services, fuel program, tire program, parts inventory, warranty, and damaged equipment claims. 
  • Manages and ensures the proper utilization of technology to obtain efficient data to monitor staff performance, obtain efficient information for insurance claims as well as 3rd party damage claims, increase warranty coverages and to monitor adhering to OEM cost per mile targets.
  • Investigates and determines cost savings opportunities via root cause analysis; determines areas or opportunities for cost savings initiatives, creates ROI and presents findings to leadership for approval. 
  • Monitor and manage third party vendors for the most optimum partnerships for quality and timely performance of services and efficient pricing; set KPI metrics for proper monitoring of vendor performance. 
  • Conducts analysis to determine lease versus purchasing of equipment, incorporating tax and accounting implications and/or provides data to support Finance Department analysis, understands how analysis is achieved. 
  • Champions employee engagement, responsible for maintaining a highly engaging culture, motivating employees, fostering an environment with high levels of teamwork, accountability, communication and vision to employees. 
  • Ensures compliance in the maintenance of the company equipment to meet company safety compliance and D.O.T., OSHA, EPA and any other government regulatory agencies, including required reporting and paperwork. 
  • Assists in the procurement of future equipment purchases.
  • Responsible in the management of the equipment files, records, licenses, inspections, warranties, and service agreements for the organization's transportation related equipment and tools as per company and DOT regulations. 
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and innovation as it related to improving processes, addressing performance, creating action plans and ensuring proper training and development of employees & piers. 
  • Required to attend and complete all company development, safety and compliance training, and mentor and train employees in adherence to DOT, OSHA and BLS policies and procedures. 

     

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • BA degree preferred. Licensed Certified Mechanic. Requires a minimum of 10 years hands on heavy truck maintenance experience, 3 years experience in management. Must possess strong maintenance knowledge of vehicle computer systems. 

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED 

Must possess strong interpersonal skills, strong critical thinking skills, sound decision-making skills and negotiation skills. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and oral. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects. Strong knowledge of TMT or similar technology within a fleet maintenance division. Experience with onboard GPS tracking (Peoplenet/Qualcom). Must possess excellent computer skills with advanced level MS Office programs, Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability plan, execute and launch new software programs.
